About Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is an international mutual aid fellowship with the stated purpose of enabling its members to "stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety." AA is nonprofessional, self-supporting, and apolitical. Its only membership requirement is a desire to stop drinking.
What do we do (besides have FUN)?
Group Service:
By carrying the conscience of active groups to Northern MN AA, Area 35. Voting on topics effecting AA as a whole. Action committees:
Public Information Webmaster Treatment Cooperation with Professionals Corrections Round Robin How does it work?
We follow the service structure to bring ideas forward, from groups to AA as a whole, through district, area, the AA General Service Conference, to AA World Services.
Real Life Story: Service in Action
An AA member in northern MN was unable to read and asked his group about a Big Book on tape. The Group Service Rep (GSR) brought this idea to District, who brought it to Area, who brought it to the General Service Conference. They approved it, and now AA World Services produces and distrbutes the Big Book on tape--available to millions! All because an idea was forwarded through the AA service structure.
